First let me point out that there is no one set of foods that magically cause you to shed pounds. However...
Eating the right types of foods day in and day out can help you lose weight fast and limit your trips to the doctor by keeping you healthy.
The trick is knowing how to choose the right stuff to eat. You'll leave here with a solid idea of how to make good choices.
Keep in mind that the foods that I'll mention have to be part of a good overall diet and exercise program.

Carbohydrates
100% Whole Grain / 100% Whole Wheat Products One of the keys to fat burning and appetite control is to keep your blood sugar levels stable throughout the day.
Whole grains are digested at a slower rate than non whole grain foods. This is important for blood sugar stabilization and constant fat burning.
You should NOT eat bread if you want to lose weight - true or false?
If you answered true, sorry, wrong answer.
Bread is a weight loss enemy - if it’s not 100% whole grain. The label has to read “100% Whole Wheat” or “100% Whole Grain”.
Are you a pasta lover? You're in luck. Whole wheat versions are available.
White bread or white flour products are ok for that cheat day or cheat meal.
Oatmeal Oatmeal is one of the great weight loss foods. It has a good balance of carbs, protein and good fat. In a ½ cup there’s 3 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbs and 5 grams of protein.
Oatmeal is a carb that’s slowly released into your bloodstream. Just what ya need to drop some pounds.
Stay away from that flavored sweet stuff. Choose the all-natural oats - either old-fashioned oats or the quick oats.
Be careful if you add some flavor. You can ruin a good ole bowl of oatmeal with the toppings you choose. Here are a few goodies to consider:
• add splenda or stevia • chopped fresh strawberries • cinnamon • sugar free apple sauce • chopped walnuts or almonds • flavored protein powder
Yams & Sweet Potatoes Ahhh, some of my favorite weight loss foods. Yams are tasty, natural, and full of nutrients and antioxidants.
Yams and sweet potatoes are both good but not exactly the same. Yams are released a little more slowly into your bloodstream. That makes them a little more effective for fat burning and appetite control.
A yam has a darker orange color and pointier ends.
Beans & Lentils Beans and lentils are great weight loss foods because of their protein and fiber content. Fiber reduces the risk for developing diabetes, heart disease, certain kinds of cancer, and it can help you shed some pounds too.
Fibrous Carbs (green vegetables) Green veggies are high on nutrients and very low on calories. Eat lots of em. Lettuce, asparagus, broccoli, green beans, spinach – eat up.
What about fruit? Fruit is fine. If you want quick weight loss just make sure the majority of your carbs are the complex and green fibrous type.
