My FitDay.com Review - What I like and what I don't like...
FitDay.com is a very popular free online calorie counter and weight loss journal.
It's usually referred to as a "diet software", but it has a lot more features than that which I'll highlight shortly.
Overall, I like the resources within FitDay.com. It offers a variety of tracking features with colorful charts and graphs. There's also a message board for members to support each other.
I think FitDay.com is a great resource if you already know how to eat right and how to design a good workout program.
If you're just starting a weight loss program or if you're confused about how to eat and work out, you can learn a lot about fat loss nutrition and exercise at the Burn The Fat Inner Circle membership site.
Back to FitDay.com...
Fit Day currently has both a free and paid membership to choose from.
With a free account you get:
Weight loss goal set up. You can set your goal weight and a target date.
Online calorie counter. A colorful pie chart displays your total calories including a breakdown of your carbohydrate, fat, protein and water intake.
Enter your measurements. I like this feature. You should take measurements to track your progress. You can enter your measurements into fitday and see them change with a chart.
Activity journal. You can log in your daily activities and get an estimate of how many calories you burned.
Online journal. You can record your journey by keeping a private journal. Studies show that it's helpful to keep a weight loss journal.
Reports on top of reports. Average daily calories eaten, nutrition as a percent of RDA, weight change, weight goal graph, calories eaten vs. calories expended, calories burned pie chart, and a whole lot more.
With a premium membership, you get all the above plus:
- FitDay.com with no ads displayed - Track any statistic you want with a custom tracking feature - Learn more about your nutrition with advanced reports
Currently the price for a premium membership is less than $6 a month.
With FitDay PC you get a lot more features.
The pc software lets you get all of the features of FitDay without having to be online.
I'm all about saving time, so I like that the pc version is faster.
To enter foods you just type the name of the food. A popup list automatically appears showing all the foods that match what you type.
There's also a drag and drop feature that lets you add food intake from a list of your most recent foods.
The free fitday version is great, but the pc version is more intuitive. Most of the features and reports are just a click away.
It's faster than the free version, which is sort of sectioned off so it takes more clicks to access what you want to see.
The FitDay pc software lets you analyze every aspect of your diet and nutrition info, metabolism, activities, weight, measurements, moods, and more.
What I like about FitDay is that it allows you to track and record so much. Studies show that people who track aspects like food intake, measurements and weight are more successful at losing weight.
On the other hand, I think FitDay could use a few changes.
For example, it would be nice to get some sort of "Welcome, start here" message followed by some instructions when you join.
Don't get me wrong - it's pretty easy to use after you learn your way around. Initially you're just sort of left on your own to figure things out, which costs a little time.
In summary, FitDay.com is a great software program with plenty of useful tools that can help you successfully lose weight.
